SJ-100 and MC-21 to get glazing faster: production cycle reduced by 15%

The production time for complex aircraft glazing has been reduced by 15%, while also decreasing technological losses. The new molding technology was developed by ONPP "Tekhnologiya" named after A. G. Romashin for products made of organic glass, which are used in domestic aircraft manufacturing.

The new method is designed for manufacturing structural optics parts with complex geometry and double surface curvature. Due to dimensioned molding, some operations that previously required special equipment and additional labor costs have been eliminated from the production process. This reduced the manufacturing time by 15% and decreased the amount of technological losses while maintaining the necessary optical characteristics.

The new technology will be actively used for manufacturing the side windows of the SJ-100 cockpit. Earlier, ONPP "Tekhnologiya" had already organized the production of domestic glazing for this aircraft. The set for one SJ-100 includes six cockpit glazing elements, including side windows made of oriented organic glass.

The development is also important for the MC-21 program. The enterprise already supplies glazing for both domestic passenger aircraft, and the new technology will allow expanding the product range and accelerating their production. For the MC-21, ONPP previously also carried out work on Russian cockpit glazing.
