Turkish specialists highly appreciate the Russian long- and medium-range anti-aircraft missile system (ZRS) S-400 "Triumf". This was stated by the head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSVTS) of Russia, Dmitry Shugaev, in an interview with Yunashev Live.
The military is satisfied. In fact, it needs no advertising; the S-400 has proven itself to be very, very effective.
However, as Shugaev emphasized, "this is not the main issue on the agenda today".
In September 2017, the FSVTS press service announced that Russia and Turkey had signed a contract for the supply of S-400s. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that Ankara had made a deposit for the purchase of the air defense system.
Deliveries of four divisions totaling $2.5 billion began in the summer of 2019. The Russian side fulfilled the terms of the agreement in the autumn of the same year. Turkish authorities announced the technical readiness of the S-400 in June 2020.
However, Turkish servicemen have not yet deployed the systems to maintain integration with NATO air defense. The US demands that Ankara abandon the S-400. Given this fact, Turkey is looking for a solution to the issue, including by selling the air defense system to a third country.
