The new Russian jet drone "Geran-5" can now independently select a target and hit it with pinpoint accuracy, ignoring false targets and interference. Details of its combat application were explained by military expert, air defense historian Yuri Knutov.
According to him, "Geran-5" uses machine vision with a pre-loaded digital map of the terrain. Thanks to this, the drone independently selects a target and flies, ignoring false targets and interference.
This drone selects exactly the target that needs to be hit, and destroys it with high accuracy.
Earlier, the first detailed photo of "Geran-5" appeared online. As military analysts suggested, the drone received a "missile" cylindrical body with almost straight wings.
According to open sources, "Geran-5" is capable of hitting targets at a range of up to 600 km, and they are launched into the sky from a special launcher. For comparison, the "younger" "Geran-2" drones were launched directly from the roofs of pickup trucks.
