Aeroflot is among the largest companies that will start accepting payments in digital rubles from September 1. Airline tickets can be paid for using a QR code both on the website and in the airline's own sales offices, the press service reported.
When paying on the website, a separate method will appear – "Digital Ruble". After selecting it, a QR code will be generated, which needs to be scanned in the application of a bank that supports the digital ruble. Payment is confirmed on the Bank of Russia platform, the debit occurs online, and the ticket and receipt are sent to the email. In Aeroflot offices, the code will be displayed on cash terminals, and the payment scheme is similar.
The digital ruble is a new form of the ruble issued by the Bank of Russia, an additional opportunity for payments and transfers without commissions. The mass introduction of the digital ruble in Russia begins on September 1, 2026. Aeroflot is the largest Russian airline: in 2025, it transported 29.5 million passengers, and including the group's airlines – 55.3 million.
