The car remains a familiar part of life for millions of people in Russia. New data shows that, on average, there are 68 passenger cars per 100 Russian households. Moreover, rural residents are better supplied with cars than urban dwellers.

Almost 7 out of 10 Households Own a Passenger Car
In 2025, approximately two-thirds of Russian households owned a passenger car. On average, there were 68 cars for every 100 such groups.
Over the past two years, the indicator has barely changed. In 2023 and 2024, there were 67 passenger cars per 100 households in Russia.
The highest level of car ownership was recorded in rural areas – 75 cars per 100 households. In cities, this figure was 65 cars.
More Motorcycles in Russia
In addition to passenger cars, the number of motorcycles has also increased.
While in 2024, there was an average of one motorcycle per 100 families, by the end of 2025, this figure rose to two.
In statistics, a household refers to an individual, a family, or a group of people who live together and share a common economy. People within the same household may not necessarily be relatives.
