Specialists from the A.I. Mikoyan Design Bureau, after a possible merger of design teams, may be involved in working on existing and prospective projects of the Sukhoi Bureau. Nikolay Chikunov, a 1st category design engineer at the Design Bureau, told "Pervy Tekhnichesky" about this.
According to him, such areas may include the refinement of the Su-57 and work on the Su-75 project.
Our design departments will probably be engaged in the Su-57 and Su-75.
At the same time, Chikunov believes that in such a case, MiG's own prospective projects may receive fewer resources. Already, some specialists are engaged in initiative developments without full funding and paid working hours.
Chikunov also noted that in the event of the creation of a unified design team, MiG divisions may formally retain their names, but key decisions will be made at a general level.
The Sukhoi Bureau is the leading developer of tactical aviation in Russia. The Design Bureau is working on the Su-57, Su-75, Su-34, Su-35S fighters and others. Recently, information appeared about plans to create a 6th generation fighter.
