Tugs and Icebreakers: Around 20 Vessels to be Built for Rosmorport by 2028

The main order will be fulfilled by shipbuilders of the Onezhsky Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant

Rosmorport expects to receive about 20 tugs, icebreakers, and other types of vessels by 2028. The enterprise also plans to establish the construction of an Arctic auxiliary fleet at the Onezhsky Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant (JSC "OSSRZ" is part of Rosmorport). This was announced by Vladimir Khokhlov, head of the Arkhangelsk branch of FSUE "Rosmorport".

According to him, the main order is being fulfilled by the Onezhsky SSRZ. In 2026, the plant is expected to build 2 oil and garbage collectors of project NE028, in 2027 — one tug of project NE038, 6 self-propelled barges of project PBSHB6.

What other vessels are expected at Rosmorport:

Shipbuilders from "Marine Pro Metal Boats", Vyborg Shipyard, and Kerch "Zaliv" plant are also involved in the construction of vessels for the enterprise.

Unfortunately, for obvious reasons, the deadlines are shifting to the right. But work is underway, and we are receiving vessels.
Vladimir Khokhlov, Head of the Arkhangelsk Department of FSUE "Rosmorport"

Khokhlov added that in the future, the Onezhsky plant will be loaded with orders for the construction of shallow-draft icebreakers for operations in river mouths, ice-class tugs, and ice-class LNG bunkering vessels.

Rosmorport is a strategic enterprise of the maritime industry, under the jurisdiction of the Russian Ministry of Transport. Its branches manage federal property in ports, ensure navigation safety, including icebreaking assistance for vessels.
