The "Skat-220" reconnaissance drone has received a new sensor for evading interceptor drones and recently set a speed record. This was announced by Alan Lushnikov, CEO of the Kalashnikov Concern.
The new system is designed for automatic maneuver execution when threatened by an FPV drone attack. As previously specified by concern representatives, the equipment can detect radiation associated with the operation of an interceptor drone, after which the onboard system initiates an evasion maneuver without operator intervention.
At the same time, the "Skat-220" demonstrated a speed significantly exceeding that stated for this model. According to Alan Lushnikov, CEO of Kalashnikov, the apparatus reached 250 km/h during combat use. Its passport speed is 220 km/h.
The "Skat-220" is developed based on the "Skat-350M" UAV. With a weight of 12 kg, it has a wingspan of 2.2 m, an electric motor, catapult launch, and parachute landing. Initially, the apparatus was stated to have a maximum speed of up to 160 km/h and a flight duration of more than 150 minutes.
