The Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ) plans to start serial production of the super-powerful BELARUS 5425 tractor in 2027, stated the company's general director, Taras Murog.
According to the head of MTZ, for the Russian market, the model will be produced with a Russian engine, which will make it more attractive to domestic farmers. Currently, the tractor is equipped with a 542-hp Weichai WP14T engine.
Four prototypes of the BELARUS 5425 are undergoing field tests on farms in Belarus. The tractor at the Dzerzhinsky agro-industrial complex has accumulated the most operating hours — about 500 — where the equipment was demonstrated to Alexander Lukashenka in May. The plant management expects that by autumn, the operating hours will reach 1000.
As Murog noted, the main thing confirmed by the tests is the economic efficiency of the new machine. With comparable specific fuel consumption, the tractor performs a greater volume of work than a 250 hp model. Foreign partners, including those from Russia, have already shown interest in the new product.
The BELARUS 5425 tractor belongs to traction class 8 with a 4K4 wheel arrangement. It is equipped with a hydromechanical gearbox with electro-hydraulic control, allowing gear changes without interrupting power flow. The lifting capacity of the front hitch is 5.5 thousand kg, the rear is 12 thousand kg, and the fuel tank capacity is 900 liters. MTZ is already preparing production lines for the serial production of this model.
