The LM 6000 PF Sprint gas turbine unit at the Vostochnaya CHPP in Vladivostok has been sent for repair to fully restore its operational life. The work began as part of the 2026 repair program, which aims to restore the unit's reliability and reduce the risk of emergency shutdowns.
The General Electric gas turbine is capable of generating up to 45 MW of electricity and is one of the important elements of Vladivostok's energy system.
Before the work began, specialists dismantled the gas turbine engine, carried out the necessary checks, and prepared the equipment for transportation to the contractor's site using special rigging.
In the next stage, the unit will be completely disassembled, and a technical diagnosis of its main components will be performed. Specialists will check the condition of the high-pressure turbine, combustion chamber, and burner devices. Based on the inspection results, it will be determined which parts can be restored to extend their service life and which will need to be replaced.
Special attention will be paid to the turbine's working blades and other elements that experience maximum loads during operation. After the repair is completed, the unit should receive an updated resource and continue to operate as part of the city's energy system.
Russian companies have adapted to the conditions that arose after General Electric suspended maintenance of its turbines in Russia in June 2023. At that time, specialists from "Kvadra" (part of "Rosatom Infrastructure Solutions") independently carried out the first medium repair of an LM6000 gas turbine at Voronezh CHPP-2 – the same series that is now being restored in Vladivostok.
By early 2026, the "RIR Energo" service center mastered the full cycle of technical maintenance of General Electric and Siemens gas turbines: in 2025, specialists performed almost a hundred works of varying complexity, including major overhauls and elimination of unscheduled defects. According to the center's management, this allowed for a reduction in the number of unscheduled equipment shutdowns.
In parallel, the restoration of domestic gas turbine engines is actively underway: in July 2026, the full restoration of the rare DC59L unit's operational life began, and at Zaton CHPP, a major overhaul of a 2000E series turbine was completed after 66 thousand hours of operation. The repair of the LM 6000 PF Sprint in Vladivostok fits into the general trend: Russian energy specialists are consistently restoring the operational life of foreign equipment on their own.
