The large anti-submarine ship Project 1155 "Admiral Levchenko" was spotted near the German island of Fehmarn in the Baltic Sea. According to German media, the ship may replace the large anti-submarine ship "Severomorsk", which was previously in the area.
According to German media, the new ship may continue the tasks previously performed by "Severomorsk". This refers to its presence in the strait between Germany and Denmark and ensuring the safety of civilian vessels, including tankers, which Western countries refer to as Russia's so-called "shadow fleet".
No official statements from the Russian authorities about the ship's transfer to the Baltic Sea and the tasks assigned to it have been published.
"Admiral Levchenko" is one of the largest ships of the Russian Northern Fleet. The Project 1155 large anti-submarine ship, 163 meters long and with a displacement of almost 7,500 tons, received new weaponry and expanded strike capabilities after modernization. The ship is capable of using Kalibr, Oniks, and Uran missiles, as well as two Ka-27PL anti-submarine helicopters.
