Rocket-like speed: Russian military created "Astra-PVO" interceptor drone with acceleration up to 560 km/h

The drone can catch up with jet UAVs and has three operating modes

Specialists of the repair unit of the 20th Combined Arms Army developed the "Astra-PVO" interceptor drone: the device can hit aerial targets both through direct collision and with an installed warhead, and its maximum speed exceeds 500 km/h.

According to the developers, the drone can reach speeds of up to 560 km/h. The device takes off vertically, like an FPV drone, after which it can operate in several modes with camera position changes: vertical, at a 45-degree angle, and in high-speed attack mode.

High speed became one of the key design parameters. Developers note that after integrating artificial intelligence systems, the interceptor's capabilities can be further expanded.

The "Astra-PVO" is designed to combat fast-moving aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles. The design allows for both a kinetic method of target destruction, where the drone destroys the object by collision, and a variant with a warhead.

In addition to the air interception version, an "Astra-KZ" variant has been created, designed to hit ground targets using a special munition.
