Tu-160 Developer Given Chance to Avoid Bankruptcy

"Tupolev" to Appeal Court Decision to Recover 11.7 Billion Rubles in Favor of "Tatneft"

PAO "Tupolev" has filed an appeal against the court's decision to recover 11.7 billion rubles in favor of "Tatneft". The hearing will take place on August 6 in Samara.

According to the court's ruling, "Tupolev" filed the complaint on June 19, although the deadline was June 16.

The company requested to reinstate the deadline, explaining the delay by late receipt of the court decision. The case was heard in a closed court session. The appellate instance considered the reasons for the delay valid, noting the insignificant period of overdue. After that, the court accepted the complaint for proceedings.

The dispute is related to the supply of Tu-214 aircraft for "UVT Aero" airline, owned by "Tatneft". "Tupolev" returned funds for only one aircraft. After that, the customer went to court. The manufacturer's representatives themselves stated that the amount of the claim could lead to possible bankruptcy.

"Tupolev" is the head enterprise of the OAK special and strategic aviation division, manufacturer of Tu-160 "White Swan" strategic missile carriers.
