Why is the Il-114-300 needed? The aircraft cannot land on unpaved runways

The liner will be certified for landing on such runways only in 2027

The new Il-114-300 turboprop aircraft has not yet received certification for landing on unpaved runways. Developers are continuing their work; presumably, in 2027, the aircraft will finally be granted such a capability, said Anton Alikhanov, head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

We are already carrying out this work, and next year changes will be made to the certificate that will allow this aircraft to officially land on unpaved runways.

Alikhanov emphasized that no changes to the aircraft's design would be required. He explained that this only requires time for testing.

The Il-114-300 received a type certificate, which allowed the first three aircraft to be transferred to the Second Arkhangelsk Aviation Detachment.

OAK announced plans to produce from six to 12 Il-114-300 aircraft per year, depending on demand. Mikhail Parnev, head of GTLC, noted that Russian air carriers need almost 40 Il-114-300 aircraft.
