Composition of new weaponry of nuclear giant "Admiral Nakhimov" revealed: 80 strike and 96 anti-aircraft missiles

The cruiser received hypersonic "Zircons", "Kalibrs" and six "Pantsir-M" systems

The heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser "Admiral Nakhimov", which has completed deep modernization, has received a completely updated armament composition, becoming one of the most powerful ships in the Russian fleet. The work on updating the ship was carried out by the Russian shipbuilding industry as part of the modernization of Project 1144.2M. This was reported by the publication "Tekhnosfera Rossiya".

According to the publication, the cruiser was equipped with ten universal eight-cell UKSK launch modules, designed for 80 cruise and hypersonic missiles. The ammunition load can include "Kalibr", "Onyx", and "Zircon" missiles, intended for striking sea and land targets.

The basis of the ship's air defense is the modernized S-300FM anti-aircraft system. Twelve eight-round launchers are installed on board, designed for a total of 96 anti-aircraft missiles. The system uses modern guidance systems and is capable of employing 48N6 and 40N6 family missiles, which significantly expands its capabilities in combating aircraft and aerial attack means.

To repel attacks from drones, anti-ship missiles, and other short-range targets, the cruiser was equipped with six "Pantsir-M" anti-aircraft missile and gun systems. In addition, the previous twin-barrel AK-130 mount was replaced with a modern single-barrel A-192M artillery system with a digital fire control system and a firing range of up to 22 kilometers.

The Project 1144.2M cruiser also retained design features that distinguish it from most modern surface ships. In particular, vital compartments, ammunition magazines, and launchers are protected by armor up to 100 millimeters thick, which increases the ship's survivability in case of combat damage.

Earlier, "Pervyy Tekhnicheskiy" reported that the Russian heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser "Admiral Nakhimov" was recognized as the fastest large warship in the world. This conclusion was reached by the American publication Military Watch Magazine.
