The M-12 "Vostok" highway is planned to be extended to Tyumen by the end of 2026. This was announced by Roman Novikov, head of Rosavtodor. The development of the M-12 remains one of the main tasks of road construction.
Traffic is already open to Yekaterinburg, and bypasses of several settlements in Bashkortostan and Tatarstan have been completed, including a section with a bridge over the Kama River.
In 2026, a section of more than 300 kilometers from Yekaterinburg to Tyumen is planned to be put into operation, including the already built Bogdanovich bypass in the Sverdlovsk region. Also planned is the construction of a bypass for the Beloyarsky settlement.
A separate area of work is the development of a network of city bypasses. By 2030, 50 such facilities are planned to be built, 31 of which will be on federal highways. 10 bypasses have already been put into operation, including sections in Tatarstan and the Volgograd region.
According to Roman Novikov, bypasses significantly relieve cities and reduce travel time. For example, in Volgograd, the travel time through the city is expected to decrease by approximately 1.5 hours, and drivers will save up to 20–30% of their time.
Overall, Russia continues its course towards the development of high-speed roads. Approximately 2.5 thousand kilometers of the federal network already have a speed limit of up to 110 km/h.
It is separately noted that this year it is planned to put into operation 183.3 km of new and reconstructed roads, while the final figure may be higher – last year the plan was overfulfilled.
