Indonesia Returns to Su-35 After Rejecting American F-15s

Negotiations for deliveries to Jakarta continue

Russia and Indonesia continue to discuss the probable delivery of Su-35 fighters within the framework of bilateral military-technical cooperation. This was announced by the Russian Ambassador to Jakarta, Sergey Tolchenov.

He did not provide any details, including the equipment of the combat vehicles and the contract amount.

I will not make any statements on this matter. This is a bilateral topic, and work on it is ongoing.

Recall that the saga with the sale of Su-35s to Indonesia has been going on for five years. In 2021, media reported that the republic refused to purchase 11 Su-35 units due to a lack of budget funds, although the supply contract was signed back in 2018.

Interestingly, in February 2026, Indonesia officially withdrew from the program for the supply of F-15IDN fighters from the United States.
