Pilots trust PD-8 engine amid rumors of thrust issues

Aviation expert Nizovtsev: certificate confirms that the unit has the specified characteristics

Russian active pilots fully trust the PD-8 engine during testing. This was stated by aviation expert Viktor Nizovtsev.

He praised the Rybinsk plant team for the successful development of the power unit.

The certificate confirms that the PD-8 has all the specified characteristics, and pilots who test the aircraft with our engines share the same opinion. They trust it, this is the most important characteristic.

In December 2025, a source from "Business Online" in the aviation industry stated that the PD-8 did not provide the necessary thrust for flights with a full cabin. The declared power at maximum takeoff mode is 8,056 kgf.

The power unit has received the necessary permits and will now be used on the new SJ-100.
