In the future, the import-substituted MC-21-310 aircraft will even receive a long-haul version. This was stated by Roman Gusarov, editor-in-chief of the Avia.ru portal.
According to him, such plans do exist, but they have been postponed. Gusarov added that the development of this airliner will still begin, but somewhat later - after the certification of the basic version is completed.
In addition, Gusarov clarified, the “cut-down version” of the MC-21 will not require a full cycle of tests, but only a small part of them.
Therefore, it is quite possible to create such an aircraft by 2028. And it is even necessary.
It should be noted that the confirmed range of the MC-21-310 is 3.8 thousand km. For comparison, the main Russian long-haul Il-96 flies a distance of 12 thousand km. How such a range will be achieved with normal load is unclear.
