Russia is gradually restoring its tin industry, which collapsed in 2009 due to the disruption of production chains and the global financial crisis. By 2029, domestic enterprises will be able to cover the needs of the domestic market. This was stated by Igor Korytov, director of the "Olovyannaya Rudnaya Kompaniya" (part of PAO "Rusolovo").
"Rusolovo" plays an important role in the revival of the industry, Korytov noted. In 2015, its beneficiation plants at the "Solnechny" and "Pravourmiysky" production complexes began operating in Khabarovsk Krai.
The volume of tin production in concentrate increased from near-zero levels in the 2010s to 2.5 thousand tons per year by 2019.
In 2025, tin production in concentrate (containing 30% to 70% pure metal) amounted to 4.6 thousand tons. Of this, 3.5 thousand tons accounted for "Rusolovo".
According to the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, by 2030, the demand for this metal will exceed 5.4 thousand tons. The company will be able to meet it, Korytov said. The full-cycle tin production cluster in Khabarovsk Krai will reach full capacity by 2029. It will produce at least 8.3 thousand tons of branded tin per year, he explained.
Tin is a low-melting, silvery-white metal. It is used in electronics, mechanical engineering, metallurgy, and the chemical industry.
