Voronezh saved Superjet production and left Il-96 on the back burner

PD-8 engines were equipped with a fairing and cowl flaps built at VASO

Rybinsk enterprise ODK-Saturn thanked the Voronezh Aircraft Plant (VASO) for its contribution to the creation of the PD-8 engine. It is at VASO's facilities that the details of the nose fairing and cowl flaps of the power plant are created.

Components for them are created in the workshops of blanking and stamping, mechanical assembly, composite production and assembled in the VASO nacelle manufacturing specialization center.

I hope for long-term mutually beneficial partnership cooperation in mastering and increasing its serial production.

Meanwhile, the Voronezh Aircraft Plant is the only site in Russia for the serial production of Il-96-400M long-haul wide-body aircraft, which airlines are not in a hurry to buy.

Oleg Panteleev, Executive Director of Aviaport agency, explained that the Il-96-400M is initially uninteresting for carriers who chose Boeing and Airbus.

Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov stated that Russia has already begun developing a new long-haul aircraft, but did not mention the Il-96, whose fate is still unknown.
