An enterprise is being built in Primorsky Krai that could become one of the key links in the Russian shipbuilding industry. Igor Sechin, head of Rosneft, spoke about the project details.
The metallurgical plant, being built next to the Zvezda shipbuilding complex, is planned to be launched in 2029.
The new plant will become part of a single industrial cluster around the Zvezda shipbuilding complex. Its capacity will reach 1.5 million tons of products per year, including large-format steel sheets up to 4.5 m wide and up to 24 m long.
However, the project is not only focused on shipbuilding. The enterprise also plans to produce large-diameter pipes for main oil and gas pipelines. The volume of pipe production will be up to 300 thousand tons annually.
The press service of the United Shipbuilding Corporation told "Pervy Tekhnichesky" that by 2036, Russia will build more than 1,600 units of civilian vessels and marine equipment of various types.
USC is also carrying out a large-scale modernization of the "Severnaya Verf" in St. Petersburg, where Project 22350 frigates are produced.
