The PD-35 high-thrust engine has become not just a promising power plant, but a laboratory for future technologies. The project serves as the main demonstrator of solutions that can then be extended to the entire new generation of power plants, ODK stated.
Dmitry Karelin, Deputy General Designer of ODK, noted that in the next ten years, the corporation plans to create three demonstrator engines, on which 18 critical technologies for the entire range of gas turbine engines will be tested.
A gas generator with a high compression ratio, composite fan blades, an advanced combustion chamber, a gearbox with increased energy generation, and an ACS with AI algorithms will ensure the engine's competitive characteristics in the global market.
In parallel, ODK is developing ceramic composite materials, new thermal barrier coatings, and high-efficiency seals.
Earlier, "Perviy Tekhnicheskiy" compared the PD-35 with the recognized benchmark for high-thrust engines — GE9X from General Electric.
