Import Substitution in Special Equipment: UMG Begins Testing Russian Heavy-Duty Shredder

The mulcher is being tested for durability, wear, and hydraulic system stability

Russian construction and road equipment manufacturer UMG has launched the testing phase for a new mounted shredder with hydraulic power take-off. The development is positioned as a fully localized solution and draws on the company's many years of experience operating mulching systems in challenging climatic and operational conditions.

The new equipment belongs to the class of mounted hydraulic units and is designed for shredding woody and shrubby vegetation, including stumps, undergrowth, and logging residues. The designers state that versatility was a key priority: the unit can operate on excavators, loaders, and other types of special equipment with hydraulic drive.

The product is currently undergoing an extensive testing program in real operating conditions. Engineers are evaluating the wear of cutting elements, the hydraulic system's resistance to peak loads, and the stability of operation on various types of plant material – from dense shrubs to large trees.

Based on the test results, the company will decide on launching mass production and bringing the product to market as an independent product in its line of attachments.
