Automatic transmissions will begin to be produced in Russia. However, they will not be intended for Lada or UAZ vehicles, but for Haval cars. The company plans to master the full production cycle of automatic transmissions at its plant in the Tula region. Details were revealed by Albert Karimov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia.
The project will be one of the stages of Haval car localization in Russia. An automatic transmission is considered one of the most complex and high-tech components of a car.
Haval is working on mastering the full production cycle of automatic transmissions. The launch is expected to take place this year.
At the same time, the company continues to expand Russian production of internal combustion engines. The plant in the Tula region already produces 1.5 and 2.0-liter gasoline engines.
In the future, the enterprise plans to independently produce cylinder blocks and cylinder heads. These parts will be manufactured by die casting.
It is expected that its own production of automatic transmissions will allow Haval to increase the share of Russian components in cars and reduce dependence on imported supplies.
Earlier, a new 1.5-liter turbo engine for all-wheel drive crossovers began to be produced in the Kaluga region.
