"10 Years of Empty Words": Airbus Pilot Explains Why MC-21 Is Not a Competitor to the West

Andrey Litvinov: "We only hear slogans and wishful thinking"

The new Russian medium-haul aircraft MC-21-310 cannot be considered a competitor to the Airbus A320. This was stated by Andrey Litvinov, a first-class pilot and former Aeroflot pilot.

According to him, pilots still do not know how the airliner will behave in operational flights – it's a big mystery.

This aircraft has just been assembled, just rolled out of the hangar. They've been talking about it for 10 years. We only hear slogans, wishful thinking – it's all just words. What competitor? What are we even talking about?

Oleg Panteleev, Executive Director of Aviaport agency and aviation expert, explained that the MC-21 platform is the most modern at the moment and looks much cooler than its classmates Boeing 737 MAX, Airbus A320neo, and the Chinese C919.

"Perviy Tekhnicheskiy" compared the MC-21-310 and Airbus A320neo. The domestic aircraft was inferior in terms of fuel efficiency and range.
