The PD-35 high-thrust demonstrator engine confirmed the correctness of the approaches to developing the power plant. This was announced by the head of Rostec, Sergey Chemezov.
Currently, the PD-35 demonstrator engine is undergoing tests and confirming the correctness of the design solutions.
The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov, stated that making the PD-35 economical is a difficult task. However, the unit is still necessary for the country for long-distance cargo and passenger transportation.
Aviation expert Roman Gusarov explained to "Pervy Tekhnichesky" that the PD-35 will be the pinnacle of technology, but its development turned out to be more difficult than launching a rocket into space.
At the same time, aviation engineer Valery Ageev stated that the PD-35 does not live up to high expectations, producing 26 tons of thrust instead of the promised 35 tons.
