Two new EP2K electric locomotives, numbered 516 and 517, have been delivered to the October Railway (OZhD). The delivery was carried out by Kolomensky Zavod. Currently, 114 locomotives of this series are already operating on OZhD lines.
The EP2K remains one of the key passenger electric locomotives in the RZD system. Machines of this series operate on several main lines, including the West Siberian, Moscow, October, and Kuybyshev railways. They are involved in driving branded passenger trains "Krasnaya Strela", "Dve Stolitsy", "Megapolis", "Grand Express", and also serve the double-decker "Aurora" trains running between Moscow and St. Petersburg.
According to operational data, the total mileage of all EP2K electric locomotives has exceeded 900 million kilometers, which confirms the stable demand for the model and its use in regular passenger transportation. The machines ensure stable train movement, focused on smooth running and passenger safety.
Earlier, "Perviy Tekhnicheskiy" reported that new traction motors for the prospective gas-diesel locomotive 3TE30 were sent for certification tests.
