Russian scientists have made significant progress in studying solar activity (solar archaeology). They found that the star is currently at its peak activity. This was stated by Sergey Bogachev, an employee of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
According to him, a solar flare that occurred 100 years ago left traces on Earth. These traces can be used to understand what was happening with the star. Taking into account various data, scientists were able to study the Sun's activity.
On a scale of 10,000 years, the Sun is currently at a very high stage, at the maximum of its activity.
The astronomer added that in some periods, solar activity declined. For example, this theory is confirmed by the Maunder Minimum in the early 18th century. This period coincides with a severe cooling on Earth. However, as Bogachev emphasized, these events are not unique; they tend to repeat.
