Russia has confirmed its readiness to supply modern weapons and military equipment to the Armed Forces of Mozambique, as well as to organize a comprehensive maintenance system for the country's existing Russian and Soviet-made equipment. This was stated by Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Alexander Venediktov during a meeting with the Minister of Internal Affairs of Mozambique, Paulo Chachine.
Venediktov emphasized that Moscow pays special attention to the development of bilateral cooperation, including through the security councils of the two countries. He noted that Russia is ready not only to equip the Mozambican army with new types of equipment but also to ensure its long-term operation through established spare parts logistics, specialist training, and service support.
During the conversation, the parties discussed prospects for deepening cooperation in the security sphere, including the exchange of experience and coordination of efforts to counter transnational threats.
Earlier, "Perviy Tekhnicheskiy" reported that, according to Rosoboronexport, Russia has signed military equipment contracts worth $20 billion with Africa and concluded over 150 agreements since 2023.
