Turbine production to sharply increase in the Urals

UTZ expanded its equipment fleet for power unit production

Ural Turbine Plant (UTZ) has expanded its fleet of metalworking equipment to increase the volume of steam turbine production. This was reported by the Industrial Development Fund.

The total investment in the project is about 1 billion rubles, of which 400 million rubles were provided as a preferential loan.

UTZ purchased a vertical boring mill, a metal-cutting machine, and several machining centers. This allowed for expanding production and ensuring the processing of complex parts without multiple transports and re-installations.

We were able to increase the output of turbines across the entire product line, as well as master the production of high-power condensing turbines.
Dmitry Izotin, UTZ CEO

Russian industry has been closely involved in turbine production in recent years. For example, ODK plans to demonstrate a 300 MW unit, such units have not existed in Russia's history yet.

At the same time, the head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, admitted that domestic turbines are more expensive than foreign ones.
