The Ministry of Agriculture intends to reduce the cost of grain through technological modernization, rather than administrative measures. According to "Kommersant" following the All-Russian Grain Forum in Sochi, the head of the department, Oksana Lut, stated: in conditions of a strengthening ruble and reduced budget support, the only way to maintain competitiveness is to increase production efficiency. The main bets are on drones, robotic harvesting systems, and artificial intelligence.
Regions have already been set plans to increase the area processed using UAVs, and forum experts called AI a key tool for forecasting yields and monitoring prices. In parallel, the state will stimulate selection, increase soil fertility, and optimize logistics through multimodal transportation. 8.3 billion rubles have been allocated for subsidizing transportation this year.
In fact, the Ministry of Agriculture admits: extensive growth due to record harvests has been exhausted. Further increase in exports – and 144.6 million tons of grain were harvested in the 2024/25 season – requires a transition to an intensive model, where the cost is reduced not by saving on chemicals and equipment, but through precision farming and automation. State support will be directed to those areas where it will bring maximum returns, the department emphasized.
