Il-114-300 tests to be extended for several more months

The turboprop aircraft confirmed reliable operation in the Arctic zone

The Il-114-300 turboprop regional aircraft reached the Franz Josef Land archipelago for the first time during certification tests. This is Russia's northernmost airfield, located on the 80th parallel, Rostec reported.

OAK engineers tested the new BINS-2015 inertial navigation system in Arctic conditions. The basing latitudes once again confirmed the reliability of the Il-114-300 in the Arctic zone, noted Daniil Brenerman, Managing Director of JSC "Il".

The aircraft flew almost to the North Pole, with less than 100 km remaining to the "zero mark".

Brenerman added that high-temperature tests are planned for the summer, and tests of aircraft operation from unpaved runways are scheduled for early autumn.

However, just yesterday, OAK head Vadim Badeha stated that he expects to receive the type certificate for the Il-114-300 in the very near future.

According to the updated Comprehensive Civil Aviation Development Program until 2035, 93 Il-114-300 aircraft will be built in Russia. The CPGA version until 2030 indicated 51 planned units.
