For Russia, work on a sixth-generation aircraft is a priority for maintaining leadership in combat aviation. This was announced by Vadim Badeha, CEO of the United Aircraft Corporation.
The key task for us at the moment, of course, is to create conditions for maintaining leadership. These are sixth-generation aircraft, if we are talking about operational-tactical aviation.
Badeha identified the industry's human resources potential as a basic success for the corporation.
Rostec announced on May 7 the start of flight tests of the fifth-generation Su-57 fighter with a new engine. The power plant has reduced fuel consumption in all modes, provides supersonic flight without afterburner, and has an increased service life.
Work is also underway on the single-engine Su-75 fighter. Test flights were promised at the beginning of the year, but they have not yet taken place.
