Unusual "Spartak" Armored Vehicle with "Hell Thresher" Spotted for the First Time with Russian Military

The combat vehicle was converted into a mobile artillery unit with an S-60 cannon

An unusual wheeled self-propelled artillery unit has been spotted in the operational zone of the Russian "African Corps". The three-axle "Spartak" AMN-590911 armored vehicle was equipped with a 57-mm AZP-57 cannon from the S-60 anti-aircraft complex.

Engineers adapted the legendary "Hell Thresher" – as the AZP-57 is called in the troops for its rate of fire and firepower – for mobile support tasks.

The weapon demonstrates stable operation even in extreme temperatures, which is especially important for the African theater of operations. According to open sources, the unit is capable of firing up to 120 rounds per minute, hitting targets at a distance of up to 12 kilometers, and accelerating a 2.8-kilogram projectile to a speed of 1000 m/s. The cannon's ammunition load of 144 rounds allows for prolonged firing without frequent resupply.

The armored vehicle received a 312-horsepower diesel engine, which provides a cruising speed of up to 90 km/h on the highway and a range of about a thousand kilometers. The four-door protected cabin is designed for a crew of five, and the reinforced bottom increases resistance to explosions. The full weight of the vehicle – 22.5 tons – remains within the limits permissible for rapid deployment on roads and off-road.

The military notes that the combination of high mobility, protection, and dense fire makes such a hybrid an effective tool for escorting convoys, perimeter security, and pinpoint suppression of fortified positions.
