A modern coordinate measuring machine (CMM) has been put into operation at the mechanical processing plant of Leningrad Optical-Mechanical Association named after Lenin (AO "LOMO", part of the Kalashnikov Concern). The equipment is designed to control the geometry of complex parts. This was reported by the concern's press service.
The CMM measures parts in a three-dimensional coordinate system with a high degree of accuracy. Thanks to interchangeable nozzles, the machine adapts to various types of components.
Special software processes the received data and generates the result.
The machine is indispensable in production, as it shows any deviations in equipment operation.
Advantages of CMM:
- Versatility — one machine replaces dozens of devices
- Support for reverse engineering — digitization of physical samples and creation of 3D models based on them
The Kalashnikov press service emphasized that the implementation of CMM is an important step in modernizing LOMO's machine park. The machine will not only improve the quality of manufactured products but also help increase production volume.
