Russian scientists have created an unusual non-alcoholic drink that is expected to help cope with stress without alcohol. It is based on resveratrol, a natural substance found in red wine and known for its antioxidant properties. The development was presented by specialists from Chelyabinsk State University together with colleagues from the Institute of Solid State Chemistry and Mechanochemistry of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and a sparkling wine producer.
The university stated that this is the first non-alcoholic drink with resveratrol in Russia. It has long attracted the attention of researchers due to its ability to positively influence a person's psycho-emotional state. According to the developers, this natural substance helps increase stress resistance by about a third and shows an effect in post-traumatic stress disorder.
Simply put, researchers tried to create an alternative to alcohol, which many usually resort to in order to relax and relieve tension.
The main difficulty was that resveratrol is poorly soluble in water. During R&D, scientists managed to create a stable water-soluble form of the substance. Laboratory tests and modeling of effects in PTSD were carried out in Chelyabinsk, and the technology and recipe were developed by specialists from Novosibirsk.
Serial production of the drink was organized in Khimki. The developers emphasize that the product complies with GOST and has been certified according to EAEU requirements and safety standards.
The authors of the project separately note that ordinary resveratrol from wine is not available to children, adolescents, pregnant women, drivers, and people who need full concentration. The non-alcoholic form, according to scientists, removes these restrictions.
According to the developers, the drink may be of interest to people with high psycho-emotional stress, and also be used to prevent age-related changes and maintain overall tone. The product is now being produced on an industrial scale. In the near future, the drink may appear on marketplaces.
It is important to understand that this is not a medicine, but a functional non-alcoholic drink under development, which does not replace medical care and treatment.
