Seven Strike Directions: Minsk Reveals Army Re-equipment Plan Until 2030

The share of modern weaponry in the Belarusian Armed Forces has reached 45% and will continue to grow

Belarus has identified seven key areas for weapons development for the period from 2026 to 2030. This was announced by Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin following a meeting with President Alexander Lukashenka.

The state program is based on the army's needs in forested and swampy terrain. Priority is given to electronic warfare systems, small-scale air defense, reconnaissance, communications, and counter-battery warfare. These directions were agreed upon taking into account the country's economic capabilities.

The Minister emphasized that the Commander-in-Chief has repeatedly drawn attention to the specifics of the terrain, which must be protected. In this regard, the program maintains a focus on the development of small arms, as well as on the training and equipping of military personnel.

According to the department, the implementation of the previous program (2021–2025) allowed the share of modern equipment and weaponry in the troops to reach 45%. This indicator may be increased within the new cycle.

Viktor Khrenin also noted the growing global militarization. According to him, countries with limited resources risk facing serious economic, political, and military consequences if they do not timely modernize their defense potential.

The program is applied in nature: each priority is tied to real tasks of territorial defense and the capabilities of the Belarusian OIC. It is expected that the document will be finally approved after detailed elaboration of the financial mechanisms for its implementation.

Earlier, "Pervyy Tekhnicheskiy" reported that Belarus increased its fleet of Su-30SM/SM2 to 16 aircraft. The fighters are integrated with S-400 systems and are capable of using long-range air-to-air missiles.
