Authorities have decided to save the Zelenograd microelectronics plant "Angstrom", which found itself on the verge of bankruptcy with multi-billion debts. The Arbitration Court in February 2026 approved the external management plan for the enterprise, CNews reports. The main task is to preserve the strategic enterprise of the defense-industrial complex, ensure the fulfillment of the state defense order, and stabilize the financial situation.
According to the plan, over the next year and a half, the plant will close some unprofitable productions, cut costs, and sell off some assets. It is also planned to increase the efficiency of existing capacities and boost the output of the most profitable types of products.
Angstrom's problems began back in 2012 when the plant acted as a guarantor for a loan to Angstrom-T. That plant was not built, it went bankrupt, and the debt – 1.2 billion euros – transferred to Angstrom. The state corporation VEB.RF demanded more than 245 billion rubles from the enterprise. However, the court granted a three-year deferral with an obligation to pay more than 17.8 billion rubles, noting that forced collection would lead to the disruption of the state defense order.
JSC "Angstrom" is a strategic enterprise that develops and produces microcircuits and semiconductor devices for the Ministry of Defense, state corporations, and more than 700 other customers.
