Sber's Big Spring Smart Home Update: GigaChat Takes on Scenarios

The smart speaker now clarifies details and helps set up automation itself

Sber has released a major spring update for its Sber smart home ecosystem. One of the main innovations is the ability to create scenarios for devices through a simple conversation with a voice assistant.

Now, the user just needs to ask the Sber speaker to set up the desired scenario — for example, turn on the lights in the evening or start the humidifier on a schedule. The GigaChat-based system will clarify the details itself and save the ready automation.

The company notes that the neural network understands commands in natural language and helps create even complex action chains without manual parameter configuration.

The update also introduced "I'm Home" and "I'm Away" modes. These allow automatic switching of scenarios depending on a person's presence and save resources. For example, when no one is home, the system may not turn on the lights after sunset or turn off the humidifier.

In addition, developers have redesigned lighting control. Now light sources can be divided into main and additional. Thanks to this, the command "Salyut, turn off the light" will only turn off the main lighting, while nightlights or decorative lighting will continue to work.

The device interface has also been updated: the application now features clearer device icons and improved command recognition. SberDevices notes that this will help avoid situations where the wrong device is accidentally turned on. For example, the command to turn on the fan will no longer activate the kettle.
