Primorskaya GRES Reaches Record 210 MW: Unit No. 6 Achieves Full Capacity After Modernization

The upgrade boosted the plant by 70 megawatts and transitioned the power unit to digital control

The modernization of power unit No. 6 at Primorskaya GRES has been completed, and it has been put into commercial operation. The unit's capacity increased by 70 MW, reaching its design capacity of 210 MW. All work was carried out by Siberian Generating Company as part of the federal DPM-2 program. The launch took place on May 5, 2026.

Reconstruction began in February 2025. Engineers dismantled worn-out components and installed new equipment. Specialists updated the boiler's screen surfaces, superheaters, induced draft fans, and heat recovery system.

The replacement affected about 80% of the air preheaters, restoring the unit's standard steam production capacity. Simultaneously, gas intake shafts and pulverized fuel preparation paths were repaired. Old wet ash collectors were removed, and modern electrostatic precipitators were installed in their place. The dispatch control loop was fully automated.

Unit No. 6 enhances the stability of Primorye's energy system. Primorskaya GRES currently covers almost half of the regional electricity consumption. The additional 70 MW create a reserve that helps overcome winter peaks without restrictions for subscribers.

The transition to electrostatic precipitators and precise adjustment of combustion modes reduced the emission of solid particles into the atmosphere. The company has already begun dismantling equipment at power unit No. 7 and is preparing the site for the next ash collection complex.
