The Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) are armed with approximately 130 fourth-generation Su-34 bombers and “more than 21 units” of fifth-generation Su-57 fighters. These calculations were published by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in the new edition of the Military Balance handbook.
In total, the VKS and the Navy have about 1200 combat aircraft, including Tu-22M3, Tu-95MS, Tu-160, and Tu-160M long-range bombers and missile carriers, according to the study's authors.
Also among them are about a hundred MiG-29s, almost 150 MiG-31s of various modifications (including up to 25 carriers of Kinzhal hypersonic missiles), up to 130 Su-35S, and about 200 Su-25 attack aircraft.
It should be noted that the Russian side has not officially published information on the number of the army's air wing.
Last year, the foreign publication Military Watch Magazine wrote that the VKS were armed with approximately 40 Su-57s and about 200 Su-34s.
