Russia is counting on cooperation with India on the fifth-generation Su-57 fighter, but New Delhi has not yet made a final decision. This was reported by Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov.
According to him, negotiations are continuing amid stable bilateral relations, and the aircraft itself is being considered as one of the key projects for possible cooperation.
The Su-57 is what we are discussing. India has not made any statements and has not made any decisions regarding the Su-57. But we hope that we will have an opportunity to cooperate in this area.
Indian media had previously reported that the country's authorities were in no hurry to sign a contract on production localization and were expecting a detailed proposal from the Russian side on the project's cost. The situation is also complicated by New Delhi's interest in French Rafale fighters.
According to Military Watch Magazine, the Indian Air Force may expand purchases of the Su-57 after the appearance of a version with the new AL-51F-1 engine.
