Russia has presented a complex for monitoring and intercepting air targets, capable of simultaneously using up to 17 interceptor drones. The system controls the airspace within a radius of up to 15 km and automatically guides the devices to targets.
The head of the "Arkhangel" project, Mikhail Filippov, stated that the complex includes the "Slonenok" surveillance system and the "Arkhangel" interceptors of the same name. First, targets are detected by radar, after which the drones receive a command to intercept.
The machine accommodates 17 interceptors. Guidance is provided by artificial intelligence. The drone operator's task is only to flip the switch at the right moment.
Filippov clarified that the complex is capable of replacing several mobile operational groups at once.
The "Arkhangel" UAV carrier also acts as a repeater for destroying targets beyond the radio horizon.
