New 250 MW energy storage facilities to be launched in Krasnodar Krai by summer 2026

Rosseti is testing rapid solutions for stabilizing the power system of the South and Crimea

By the beginning of the summer season, energy storage facilities with a total capacity of 250 MW will appear in the power system of southern Russia. This was announced by the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, Sergei Tsivilev. According to him, the preparation of a pilot project in the United Energy System "South", operated by Rosseti, is already being completed in the Krasnodar Territory. Additional capacity may be connected later if it is necessary to further balance the demand for electricity.

The project is designed to simplify the integration of energy storage systems into the existing infrastructure: thanks to the pilot status, the installation of equipment at substations will take place without lengthy approvals. In the future, regulators intend to move to a competitive selection of such initiatives - the winners will be able to receive a capacity fee for 15 years.

At the same time, Rosseti is implementing another 100 MW energy storage facility in Crimea. Both projects are aimed at increasing the reliability of power supply in regions with high seasonal loads.
