Russian DC shields sent to the first Turkish NPP "Akkuyu"

Equipment from JSC "New ERA" will ensure the operation of reactor control systems

DC shields for power unit No. 1 of the Akkuyu NPP have been shipped and sent to Turkey. The delivery was organized by JSC "New ERA" as part of an interstate contract between Russia and Turkey. The equipment is designed to power the control, monitoring and emergency protection systems of the reactor — key elements on which the safe operation of the power unit depends.

Akkuyu NPP today is the largest nuclear project in the world: four power units with VVER-1200 reactors of Russian design are being built simultaneously on one site. The total capacity of the station will be 4800 MW. Regular deliveries of Russian equipment, including DC shields, allow us to adhere to the construction schedule and bring closer the date of physical launch of the first unit.

All products undergo incoming inspection and adaptation to the requirements of the Turkish regulator. The equipment is installed on site with the participation of specialists from Atomstroyexport, the general contractor of the project. After commissioning, Akkuyu NPP will cover about 10% of Turkey's electricity needs and reduce the country's dependence on energy imports.
