Cargo airships for transport tasks may enter the Russian market in the next 2-3 years. This was announced by Polina Albek, CEO and founder of the "First Airship" aviation design bureau, following the Russian Space Forum.
If we are talking about the fact that today there are precedents for the use of aerostats with a payload of up to 200-300 kg, which can be used in various areas - protection against drones, payload, distribution of cellular network communication - then directly cargo airships for logistics, I believe, we will see within a year, 2-3 [years] - this is what is actually possible.
Albek noted that Russia has a unique competence: only in our country have design teams survived that are capable of developing and building such aircraft. The design bureau is ready to launch production immediately after the adoption of a corresponding decision at the state level.
The industry is promising for the development of remote areas where there is no developed infrastructure, and traditional air transport is economically inefficient. Airships are capable of delivering goods to remote areas without runways, consuming a minimum of fuel and ensuring low transportation costs.
