Microsoft is losing money in Russia: minus 30% in a year and bankruptcy of a key company

What is happening to the business of one of the world's largest developers

Microsoft's business in Russia is shrinking dramatically: revenue has fallen by almost a third in a year, employees have been laid off, the volume of services has collapsed by more than 70%, and the group's key company, Microsoft Rus, is already in the process of bankruptcy.

Revenue of Russian divisions of Microsoft in 2025 decreased by almost 30% - to 117.3 million rubles against 166.5 million a year earlier.

At the same time, the main income is now provided by the Microsoft Payments Rus structure: it earned about 70.4 million rubles.

Against this background, the company attracted a loan of 300 million rubles from the Irish division of Microsoft Global Finance ULC at 2.5% per annum. It is planned to repay it by March 2027.

The total profit of Russian Microsoft entities also decreased - by 13.8%, to 159.6 million rubles.

The largest legal entity, Microsoft Rus, is in the process of bankruptcy. Among the creditors are large Russian companies, including Gazprombank, Medsi, Faberlic, Uralkali and Sitronics IT.

Additionally, it is noted that employees were laid off back in May last year, and the volume of services provided decreased by 73%.

The calculation does not include the results of Microsoft Mobile Rus, which has not been operating for a long time, although it formally continues to record small financial receipts.
