Yandex has updated Search — now users can switch between classic search results and a dialogue with a neural network in one click. In essence, the search bar is turning into a full-fledged communication interface: you can ask a short question or immediately "load" a complex task.
To switch to dialogue mode, simply open the "Alice AI" tab under the search bar. The company's most powerful language model works there — Alice AI LLM with hundreds of billions of parameters. It takes into account the local context and better understands requests from users from Russia.
In dialogue mode, you can not only receive answers, but also clarify them, generate texts, send files and images. The history of correspondence is saved — you can return to any conversation and continue it.
At the same time, Alice is built directly into Search: from the dialogue, you can instantly switch to tabs with pictures, products or videos — and just as quickly return back.
Quick answers under the search bar have also been updated. Now they are generated by a lightweight Alice AI Search model. As a result, Yandex was able to increase the number of requests with instant answers by 1.5 times. According to internal tests, the new version in 67% of cases gives better quality answers than the previous one.
At the same time, each answer retains links to sources — the user can immediately go and check the information.
