Russia, USA and India will be able to dock stations in space in the same orbit

Head of Roscosmos Dmitry Bakanov spoke about how an inclination of 51.6 degrees will open up opportunities for joint flights

Head of Roscosmos Dmitry Bakanov announced that Russia, the United States and India will be able to cooperate in the operation of their national orbital stations. The key condition is the placement of platforms in orbit with the same inclination of 51.6 degrees.

This parameter opens up opportunities for international cooperation. Indian partners, as part of the Gaganyaan program, are designing their station taking into account this inclination. The American side is also considering a similar solution for its future space platforms. As a result, in the near future, several stations may simultaneously operate in the same orbital plane, capable of approaching, docking and performing cross-flights.

Earlier, First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov confirmed that Russia approved the angle of inclination for the Russian Orbital Station at exactly 51.6 degrees - the same orbit in which the ISS is currently operating. This choice allows the use of existing infrastructure and proven launch technologies. Manturov also noted that the ROS will become a key platform for the exploration of deep space.

The technical coincidence of trajectories simplifies the logistics of joint missions: ships from different countries will be able to exchange crews and cargo without costly maneuvers to change the orbital plane. Experts emphasize that infrastructural compatibility creates a basis for cooperation even in difficult political conditions.
